Writing Assignment:
What do you think Charlie discovers with his decision? Was it a well taken decision?
Write an essay exposing your ideas and make reference to the
reading segment if necessary.
Since birth, we make decisions. When you're a
kid, you make decisions from what will you play until what you’re going to eat,
and in adulthood, you decided where you’re going to work or school until who
you’re going to marry and with whom you spend your whole life. They’re difficult
decisions because these are the ones that make a great change in our life. Our
life is based on decisions whether good, bad or with radical changes. Charlie
made a decision that not only made a change in his life but also made people to
think about themselves and their decisions. He was the first person to marry
himself.
It is a rather unusual topic. Charlie explains how it started it all. He mentions that he had several reasons to marry himself, he wanted a person to trust and who could speak his darkest secrets, (“Ever since I understood the concept of wedlock, I longed for a partner that I could trust. I wanted to have someone with me always, to whom I could tell all my deepest, darkest secrets without having them laugh at me”). He talks about how people made laugh about him, even his parents. We can see that the decisions we make, everyone would be there looking for the bad part of it. This is because of the nonconformity with themselves. After a while, he mentions that he wanted a child and that’s were he realizes that he needed someone else to do this. The decision he had made, about marrying himself, didn’t follow all his expectations. After he divorced, himself, he spent some time alone and later remarried, but this time with a woman which he is now happy and in plan having a baby. This shows that we make decisions that sometimes aren’t correct or what we really expect from them. Almost at the end, he mentions his book and says that this book has made people think if they are enough and whether they could live with themselves.

It is a subject that puts you
think. I don’t agree with his decision to marry himself, as I believe that
human beings shouldn’t live or be alone. The human being was created to live in
company and not alone. You have to think the things first, to make good
decisions to not pass through what he felt, the suffering caused by the taunts
of others. I agree that one should think of himself/herself first before others
in order to establish mutual relationship since of that depends the happiness
that will exist on that relationship. It makes me happy to know that finally found
his complete happiness.
